The Soul 170 evolves the Soul 160, the mainstay rod for bottom fishing, into a high-sensitivity model whose tip sensitivity has been raised dramatically. It is designed to register even the slightest bite clearly, so you can reliably convert to a hookup in deep water or in situations with many short bites.
It also uses a blank designed to respond flexibly to the differences in fighting position that come with an angler's build. You can hold a natural posture through a long stand-up fight, which greatly reduces the load on the angler.
Its targets are as wide-ranging as those of the Soul 160: kingfish, grouper and yellowtail amberjack to begin with, and on to large bottom fish in deep water and big targets in coastal waters.
It is the right rod for anglers who want a high-sensitivity, high-power rod that can be used for many purposes, with the bottom game at its center.
